His coaching career started 5 years ago when he received his USSF E license. Since then he has completed his USSF D license and is looking to continue his coaching education. He has coached several different ages from U-10 to U-18. Some of the highlights of his coaching career include being an assistant coach for the 2003 ODP girls in 2014 & 2015 and being assistant coach at Riverton High School in 2014 & 2015 (winning the state championship in 2014).
Tanner has played soccer since the age of 3. Throughout his career he has played for several different clubs within the state of Utah including Blue Knights. The biggest achievements in his career include playing with the 1995 ODP team, 1st Team All-State at Riverton High School, playing the for RSL academy in Casa Grande, and winning Utah's President's Cup. After graduating high school he went on to play college soccer for Western Nebraska Community College, Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and had several opportunities to continue his career at a university. After coming back to Utah he was invited to tryout with the Real Monarchs and made it to the final day of tryouts.
