The exact dates change year-to-year, but this will give you a general idea of what happens in year-round club soccer.
This isn't an official league season but year-round soccer starts here every year. All clubs hold Tryouts during the month of May and assemble all teams for the upcoming year. Upon registration, teams are set and typically start practice once or twice a week, which goes throughout the summer. At Blue Knights, we hold a week long summer camp for all age groups during the month of June. Summer weekends are also when most tournaments take place in the Salt Lake area. Some tournaments include out of state travel. See a list of common tournaments here. All plans for tournaments, camp dates and practice locations will be announced at the first team meeting.
Official league games start with the Fall season, and are usually full swing by the last week of August. All Blue Knights teams will be practicing at least twice a week and will usually be scheduled one game as well. The Fall season is finished by the first part of November.
All Blue Knights teams practice at least once a week at an indoor soccer facility and participate in 1 or 2 eight week sessions. Each session includes 6-8 games and game days vary by age group and location, but are always at night or Saturdays. All players are expected to continue training throughout the winter season, which runs November - February.
The spring season begins back outdoors with games at the end of March. Teams typically will begin outdoor practice (weather permitting) in mid-March. This season runs through early May. Twice a week practices and twice a week games are a common occurrence. The season concludes with the RSL State Cup tournament in mid-late May, and then we gear up for tryouts all over again!
